Well! They let me into the country!! Silly Australians.... Annette was there waiting for me at the airport and ready to laugh at me when I tried to get into the wrong side of the car. Not the most relaxing drive, when you are trying to take in the scenery while simultaneously trying NOT to pay attention to backwards traffic. But we made the trek out to her farm, which is BEAUTIFUL, and we sat out in the yard and chit-chatted for quite some time. Knowing that I would need to keep busy so that I wouldn’t fall asleep, she took me back into the city to help me get a phone. Congrats to her for being patient with me and my indecisiveness combined with jetlag. But! I do have a phone! Check that one off the list of things to do.
Over-looking Brisbane
Annette has thoroughly freaked me out with her nonchalant stories about snakes she has found in her house... And the fact that I could see a disturbingly large spider crawling across the truck in front of us while we were driving earlier, was not encouraging either. So after careful wildlife checks in and around the bed, I finally crashed at about 8:30pm. Not bad considering.... and of course I was wiiiiide awake at about 5am this morning :) can't complain about waking up to the sun rise in what sounds like a crazy bird sanctuary.
This is... Rasters?? I thought it was Masters for awhile, until I realized that was wrong. I can't entirely understand Annette's accent when she says his name, but I've asked so many times, that it's at the point that I just have to smile and nod, and hope that I don't have to say the cat's name in front of her :) But he was happy to see me open the curtains this morning!
Sitting out on the patio this early is quite pleasant :)
This is Spud. He is a lot like Mikey, so I like him. But he likes to lick everything. EVERYTHING. A frantic licker... My clothes were already clean Spud ;) haha
The two accomplishments of the morning? I drank a cup of coffee.... and had toast with Vegemite on it..... hesitant to say this, but I may have actually liked both!
Game plan for today: Australia Zoo and pizza party later tonight :)
Yay!! So glad you made it okay, and it looks amazing! I am so excited to hear about your adventures, wish I could come with you! Say hi to Annette from us.
